1D and 2D hydraulics - Effective flood preparation
In flat channels and river valleys, complex flow processes occur due to changing channel geometries, lateral inflows and flow obstacles. These determine the hydraulic discharge capacity. Using our 2D flow models BASEMENT and Hydro_AS-2D, we can calculate the discharge capacity of the channel and the exact spatial extent of any flooding for you, specifying the depth of flooding and the flow speeds. With the flow model we can calculate flood surge propagation in the event of dam failures. The impact of planned construction projects on the flood risk in a channel area can also be determined. We verify our results using the hydraulic 1D model HEC-RAS combined with site surveys.
