Sediment transport

Bedload and fine sediment can cause erosion or channel filling (aggradation) and hence increase the likelihood of flooding. In addition, sediment transport often hinders the operational efficiency of hydropower plants. On the other hand, insufficient bedload transport may cause ecological problems. Using field analyses and simulation models, we can forecast sediment quantities and channel bottom development as the basis for protection and remediation measures to reduce or increase sediment transport.
