QUALITY ASSURANCE OF CONCRETE PILING
Large structures are underpinned by concrete pile foundations. These are affected by a variety of factors in the subsurface but cannot be directly observed.
We can test the quality of your concrete piling using two methods: the ultrasonic method and the reflection method.
In the ultrasonic method, a cast-in-situ pile is sounded using high-resolution ultrasound at numerous depths and in several horizontal directions. This allows the homogeneity and quality of the pile concrete to be monitored continuously within multiple vertical planes. In specific situations where both the vertical and horizontal boundary of irregularities needs to be determined, we also offer, in addition to standard ultrasonic testing, the more complex technique of tomographic ultrasonic measurement.
When testing pile integrity using the reflection method, a compression wave is transmitted through a cast-in-situ pile by hitting the pile head with a hammer. This yields information about the homogeneity and quality of the pile concrete.
