WHEN TEMPERATURES RISE IN THE MOUNTAINS...

... the glaciers shrink and the permafrost visibly thaws. The resulting glacial lakes and/or newly accessible debris deposits trigger complex process chains. These impinge on populated areas in the form of, for example, mud/debris flows or flash flooding (glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs)), often causing damage on an unprecedented scale.

Thanks to our years of experience in high mountain regions around the globe, we are fully aware of the complexities of this issue. Our team analyses complex process chains prospectively and comprehensively. To identify critical situations early on, we devise elaborate monitoring concepts and develop sophisticated intervention and protection measures.
