In shallow channels and valley rivers, complex flow processes can occur that determine the hydraulic discharge capacity.
We can estimate the discharge capacity of the channel and the exact spatial extent of flooding by specifying the flood depths and flow velocities. The flow models can also be used to calculate flood wave propagation after dam failure.
