On 6 November 2025, Léa Toffolini, soil contamination specialist at GEOTEST AG, was invited to speak at an internal expert exchange at Services industriels de Lausanne (SiL). The event was organised by the City of Lausanne for its employees and focused on various topics related to soil contamination and the planning of sustainable projects.

Around 20 specialists from the fields of civil engineering, thermal project management, and network planning took part. In her practice-oriented presentation, Léa Toffolini shared her in-depth knowledge of the correct handling of excavated materials and their disposal in accordance with the Ordinance on the Recycling and Disposal of Waste (ADWO).

One focus was on the importance of careful material testing already during the planning phase in order to avoid unnecessarily high disposal costs. Using specific examples, the speaker illustrated the limitations associated with sampling campaigns, typical problems encountered on utility line construction sites, and various approaches to identifying and managing these challenges at an early stage. The disposal of different types of waste was also discussed.
