Expert exchange on soil contamination and waste management at Services industriels de Lausanne
Around 20 specialists from the fields of civil engineering, thermal project management, and network planning took part. In her practice-oriented presentation, Léa Toffolini shared her in-depth knowledge of the correct handling of excavated materials and their disposal in accordance with the Ordinance on the Recycling and Disposal of Waste (ADWO).
One focus was on the importance of careful material testing already during the planning phase in order to avoid unnecessarily high disposal costs. Using specific examples, the speaker illustrated the limitations associated with sampling campaigns, typical problems encountered on utility line construction sites, and various approaches to identifying and managing these challenges at an early stage. The disposal of different types of waste was also discussed.
Many participants took the opportunity to discuss specific questions from their everyday working lives with the specialist, which made the event particularly interactive and relevant for practical applications.
