Falls, radiation, rockfall – safety in everyday work life
Assessing an excavation slope, setting up a dosimeter correctly, recognising fall hazards and securing yourself appropriately, and, above all, having the courage to say ‘stop’ in a dangerous situation in the work environment – these are important skills that employees in GEOTEST’s broad scope of activity need to learn.
A gas detector must be calibrated before use.
According to SUVA, employees in their first few years on the job are especially at risk of suffering an occupational accident. To counteract this, GEOTEST requires its new employees to attend a one-day internal training course on occupational safety. In addition to the SUVA documentation, the course content is based primarily on the legal foundations – such as the Construction Work Ordinance.
On this day, seven specialists share their knowledge and experiences from their everyday work.
Specialists on various aspects of occupational safety teach the applicable regulations and the necessary procedures in the field, but also in the office. Using real examples from the geology and construction sectors, participants learn how to conduct themselves optimally in road and railway areas, construction sites, shafts and unsafe buildings.
Thomas Schneggenburger, training leader and contact person for occupational safety, has one goal:
We want our employees to be able to return home healthy in the evening.

Around 30 new GEOTEST employees receive an introduction to the safety aspects of their jobs.
A total of 30 new employees from all GEOTEST locations and fields of expertise gained an in-depth understanding of occupational safety at this year’s one-day occupational safety training course, held on two days at the start of April.
